Welcome to Mind & Memory Novellas, a platform operated by Mind & Memory Publishing Studios ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing the app or publishing content, you agree to these terms.

1. Human-Written Content Only

Mind & Memory exists to publish human-written stories. The use of generative AI to produce chapter text is strictly prohibited, and AI-generated content is not tolerated. Publishing is instant and nothing automated gates or hides a chapter: AI-authenticity and originality are verified by the platform's administrator, after publication, from the admin dashboard.

2. Policy on AI & Plagiarism

Plagiarism and AI-generated story text are strictly prohibited and can result in suspension of your account and removal of the offending materials, without refund. Because publishing is immediate, enforcement is a manual process: the administrator reviews compliance, and a published chapter is never removed automatically. If a concern is raised, the author is contacted — up to three documented contact attempts — and given the opportunity to correct the work or prove it is their own before any enforcement action is taken. Only an authorized administrator may take a published chapter down, and every action is logged. Repeated or severe violations result in permanent removal from the platform.

3. Content Standards & Explicit Material

Mind & Memory does not censor its authors' work. We ask only that your work not include excessive or outright promotion of illegal activity, hate speech, harassment, sexual content, or anything that infringes upon the rights of others. Discussion or depiction of these subjects that relates to actual historical events, or that is relevant to the development of characters or the plot of the story, is permitted. That said, Mind & Memory Publishing Studios LLC reserves the right to remove any content it deems deeply inappropriate and not story-driven. Sexually explicit content is permitted, but it must be marked as explicit (18+) and carry appropriate trigger warnings so it stays out of the hands of minors.

4. Community Reporting

Readers may like, dislike, and flag content. Flagged content is reviewed by our administrators, who may remove it and suspend the responsible writer. False or abusive reports may be disregarded.

5. Writer Subscription Fee

To keep your content hosted on the app, a subscription fee of $11.11 per monthapplies. This fee does not go into effect unless and until your novella has at least 100 subscribers. Our guarantee: you only pay the fee if you start making money. Until you reach 100 subscribers and begin earning, no fee is charged. The platform administrator may enable or disable the fee on your account.

6. Writer Payouts

Donations sent through the Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal links a writer provides are paiddirectly to the writer; Mind & Memory does not collect, hold, or guarantee those payments and is not a party to them. Chapter unlocks bought inside the app are different: Mind & Memory collects them and owes the author their full amount, as set out in Section 9.

7. Reader Memberships

Readers may subscribe to one of two monthly memberships. Offline ($5/month) allows a subscriber to save eligible chapters for offline reading inside the app — a bookmark inside Mind & Memory, never a downloadable copy of an author's file. Offline + Audiobooks ($10/month) includes everything in Offline and adds audiobook listening: ten different books a month, without ads.

Memberships are billed monthly and may be canceled at any time from the app. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period already paid for, and thereafter offline saves and audiobook listening stop. All payments are non-refundable. Reading and translating any chapter a reader may open remains free, with or without a membership — chapters the reader has unlocked, chapters the author has chosen to leave free, and every public-domain classic held in the library. A membership never gates reading or translation, and it never opens a locked chapter.

8. Audiobooks, Ads & Monthly Limits

Listening follows what a reader may read. A membership narrates the chapters a reader has unlocked and the chapters that are free; a chapter an author has locked must be unlocked first — that unlock, and never an advertisement, is what pays the author — before a membership or an ad can narrate it. Every public-domain classic held in the library is free to read, free to translate and free to listen to: those works are never paywalled and are never sold.

Audiobooks are a paid listening feature. A subscriber on the Offline + Audiobooks membership may listen toten different books in each calendar month without ads; re-listening to a book already listened to in that month does not use another of the ten. Once those ten are used — and for any reader without that membership — ads unlock listening a chapter at a time: three ads unlock the chapter the reader is on, orsix ads unlock that chapter and the next two, which then play one after another. Ad-unlocked listening lasts 24 hours, and the ads a reader has watched are counted by the app, so closing and returning does not start the count over. Each book counts once in a calendar month however it is listened to: changing the narration voice, or listening in a different language, never uses up a second book.

Ads appear in the app only in this audiobook flow, and watching one is always optional. Advertisements are drawn from campaigns authors purchase in the app (with a house message when no campaign is running). An advertisement unlocks only the audiobook feature, and only for chapters the reader may already read: it never unlocks a locked chapter, and it never grants access to any other paid content or feature.

9. Chapter Unlocks & Author Minimum

An author may lock a chapter behind a one-time unlock price, which must be at least $0.50 per chapter. The author is owed the full unlock price each time a reader unlocks that chapter, and Mind & Memory takes no share of it. The amount owed is recorded with every unlock and paid out by Mind & Memory Publishing Studios from the app's payment account. Unlocks are non-refundable, and watching an advertisement does not unlock a chapter.

Only a newly written novella chapter can be locked, and only when its author sets a price. The public-domain classics held in the library are never paywalled and are never sold: checkout refuses a public-domain work outright. An unlock is a one-time payment with nothing to renew — the unlocked chapter stays readable, translatable and narratable for as long as the reader keeps their account, and a finished book whose chapters a reader has bought is theirs to read for as long as they hold an account. Everything a reader buys appears in My Library under My Purchases.

10. Content License

You retain ownership of your stories. By publishing, you grant Mind & Memory a limited license to display your content within the app for the purpose of operating the service.

11. Dispute Resolution — Binding Arbitration

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court. You and Mind & Memory each waive the right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration. Arbitration shall be conducted under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

12. Limitation of Liability

The app is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mind & Memory is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or earnings arising from your use of the platform.

13. Termination & Removal

We may suspend or terminate access at any time for violations of these terms or our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to remove any author or content from the platform for any reason, at our discretion. Users who accumulate many flagged posts or blocks may be removed for not adhering to our Community Guidelines. Authors who disagree with a removal or suspension may request a reassessment of their work, and any user may submit an appeal through the appeal process in the app. You may stop using the app at any time.

14. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Community Guidelines

In addition to these terms, all members follow our Community Guidelines — a simple set of social rules that keep the platform welcoming. Repeated or serious violations may result in content removal, blocks, or account suspension. See the Community Guidelines page in the app for the full list, and the appeal page if you believe an action against you was made in error.
